We have great pleasure to invite you for TiE Kerala Monthly Meeting & Presentation on “KSIDC Comes Closer to the Industry – New Initiatives to support Entrepreneurship” by Mrs. Aruna Sundararajan IAS, Additional Chief Secretary & Mg Dir, KSIDC, Government of Kerala on Tuesday 27th May 2014 at IMA House, Kaloor, Kochi from 06:30PM to 08:30PM followed by Networking Dinner.
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) is an agency of the Government of Kerala for industrial and investment promotion. Established in 1961 with the objective of promoting, stimulating, financing and facilitating the development of Large and Medium Scale Industries in the State, KSIDC has been a catalyst in the development of infrastructure for the constant growth of industry. It offers professional guidance and support for potential investors through a comprehensive set of services that include Developing Business Ideas, Identifying Viable Projects, Providing Financial Assistance and Guidance for Implementation.
Over the years KSIDC has promoted many pioneering units in the corporate sector including Nita Gelatin, Hindustan Life Care Ltd, Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd, Tata Global Beverages Ltd, Harrison’s Malayalam Ltd, Brahmos Aerospace Trivandrum, Regional Cancer Centre, Malabar Cements, Kerala State Drugs & Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Excel Glasses Ltd, Kerala Automobiles Ltd., Cochin Stock Exchange, Cochin International Airport Ltd, BSES Kerala Power Ltd. Kerala Ayurveda Ltd., Lakeshore Hospital and Research Centre Ltd, Geojit BNP Pariba Financial Services Ltd., Kerala Enviro Infrastructure Ltd, INKEL, Kerala High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd, Kerala Gail Gas Ltd. etc.
KSIDC, as the premier promotional agency of the State has been undertaking several promotional initiatives for industrial growth like Entrepreneur Meets, Industrial Festivals, Seminars, Symposiums, Workshops, NRI Meet, national & international Road Shows, visits to foreign countries, Exhibitions etc.
In a nutshell, KSIDC is a single point contact for investments to the State and acts as a brand ambassador of the State spreading its industrial ethos besides being an interface between Kerala and outside world. To be more effective and proactive in this pivotal role, the new leadership of KSIDC lead by Mrs. Aruna Sundararajan decided to work in close proximity and close association with industry. With this in mind they plan to decentralize their operations by shifting major part of their Corporate Management to Kochi, the Commercial Capital of Kerala.
KSIDC, has made a beginning of their reforms by identifying few Emerging Industrial Sectors in Kerala like Agri Tech & Food Processing, Life Sciences, Healthcare & Bio technology, Green Business & Non Conventional Energy, Manufacturing (High Value & Nonpolluting), Retail, Culture & Arts etc. New initiatives in these segments are been planned to attract Investment & also to support the existing Entrepreneurs. TiE Kerala with our Special Interest Group operating in all these areas would be working in close association with KSIDC during the Planning & Implementation stage of the above initiatives.
The Presentation by Mrs. Aruna Sundararajan would focus mainly on the proposed new strategic Initiatives being planned by KSIDC for supporting the Emerging Industrial Sectors in Kerala. The Presentation will be highly beneficial for all Entrepreneurs and those who are engaged in Industrial & Commercial activities.
Mrs. Aruna Sundararajan IAS is currently the Additional Chief Secretary & Mg Dir, KSIDC, Government of Kerala.
Ms Sundararajan is one of the most senior civil servants of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the Kerala cadre. She has over three decades of experience in a variety of leadership roles in the Central Government and Kerala State. Presently, Ms Sundararajan is an Additional Chief Secretary ranked officer of the Government of Kerala.
Important positions she has held include the Country Head of the Global E schools Initiative of the UN, Mission Director, Rajiv Awas Yojana under JNNURM, and CEO of the prestigious Common Service Centre Project under the National E-Governance Project, Government of India. Ms. Sundararajan was instrumental in establishing the IT department of Kerala, the Kochi Infopark, and in initiating the SMART City project, Kochi.
She is no stranger to Kochi having started her career as Secretary of the GCDA. Ms. Sundararajan was honoured as one of the top professional women achievers by India Today in 2009 and by Forbes Business Magazine in Aug 2012.
